pATLAS Configuration

 

One of the main features of a pATLAS system is its inherent flexibility in implementation.  As a programing system, the existing pATLAS components could be combined in multiple ways making many different system configurations to achieve and fulfil many different operational requirements.  In this chapter, several system configurations will be illustrated – starting with the most common ones (the typical ones, or the standard ones), up to more complex and powerful solutions. 

The central building component of any system configuration is a set of I/O modules grouped around the I2C master CPU module, making a standard standalone pATLAS unit.  By matching the system block-diagram (with hypothetic slave modules) with a photographic view of real modules, we can get a better contextual idea about everything - at least the invisible functional system portions become more comprehensive.  The merge of two views is presented in the following Figure:
